Now is the Time to Install Radiant Heat
Now is the Time to Save Money and go "Green" with a
Clean Radiant Heat Snow Melting System
If you’re one of those unfortunate
souls who has to manually remove snow from
the driveway and walks every winter, you may want to
reconsider your methods. The passing of new snow
removal laws (such as that in Massachusetts)
don’t make it any easier on homeowners, who
are now mandated to provide snow and
ice-free walkways for pedestrians. If the sidewalks
are not cleared, property owners are not
only susceptible to personal injury lawsuits,
but they also face the possibility of fines, levied
by the local government. Removing snow from
your driveway and sidewalks is no longer an
option – it’s the law
Many consumers stock up on salt and other
snow melting chemicals to ease the physical
burden of shoveling the snow, but the amount of
time, money and adverse environmental
effects of these chemicals can be evident
year round. While effective in melting snow,
salt and chemicals are not so friendly to
the surrounding landscape. When spring hits,
the bordering grass and shrubs often reveal the ugly
scars from the repeated salt and chemical
use during the winter.
So if you’re serious about going
green (in more ways than one), consider
this. Radiant heat snow melting systems:
|
♦
|
Operate on
clean, renewable energy (hydronic or
electric) |
|
♦
|
Are safe and
environmentally friendly |
|
♦
|
Are fully
automated so that they efficiently
operate only when needed |
|
♦
|
Operate
discreetly and silently |
Of course, one of the most significant
“selling points” of radiant snow
melting systems is that it eliminates the time
consuming, physical demands of the
homeowner.
The best time to purchase and install a snow
melting system is during the early spring.
You are much more likely to discover discounted
prices, because the demand typically wanes when the
weather begins to warm. Springtime is a time
when homeowners are more interested in
outdoor grills and barbeques than snow melting
systems. Of course, once the summer has run
its course and Old Man Winter is peeking around the
corner, consumers tend to scramble to install a snow
melting system before the first storm hits.

Pipe Tracing Systems
Prevent Water
Damage from Ruptured Pipes
Every year that we grace this earth with
our presence, our lives seem to get more
complicated. We go from fighting our parents
when they tell us it is nap time to
sitting at our desks during the work day
dreaming of nap time. Busy lives leave
little time for peace and quiet. New
products come out every day designed to simplify
our lives and make one aspect of it a
bit more manageable. Some of these products are
gimmicks or passing fads (a flash in the
pan, my grandma would say) and others
prove to have staying power. One of these
simplifying ideas here to stay is a
snowmelt system. Snowmelt
systems are designed to simplify
your life and save you time clearing snow from
your driveway and sidewalks.
Radiant snowmelt
systems lie beneath the surface of your
driveway and/or sidewalk and work
automatically to keep your property clear of
snow. Busy people with hectic lives
across the country are jumping on the driveway
heating bandwagon because it not
only saves precious time but also precious money
as well. Over time you’ll save
money on snow blowers, shovels, snow gear,
ice melt, and other snow melting chemicals.
You’ll also be protecting your
driveway from harsh chemicals and plowing as
well as from ice and snow.
Snowmelt systems are energy efficient,
so once the initial investment of
installation has passed, your cost to run and
operate the driveway heating system is
minimal – especially since they are
programmed to run only when needed. The
automatic
sensors detect moisture and turn the system
on only when the snow starts to fall.
See, I told you it was simple. So go ahead,
simplify your life this year and install
a heated
driveway system.

Have you ever
gone on a ski vacation for the weekend and stayed at a
little ski lodge? A lot of the times, they’ll have a
huge fireplace in the main room with smaller bedrooms
up in the loft area or second-story. But the problem
is that when you’re in the main room with the roaring
fire, you’re often overwhelmed by the heat and
retreat to the bedroom, where it’s far
chillier. You see, many vacation or weekend homes
weren’t built with air conditioning ducts with
which to deliver the heat to the different rooms of
the house. However, there is a solution to adding
heating to homes that have not been built for traditional
forced air systems: radiant heaters.
As opposed to warm air systems (such as a forced
air unit heaters), radiant heaters deliver the source
of heat to the floor level, not the ceiling. Radiant
heaters or radiant energy is the oldest form of heating
used to provide comfort and is the basis for all
heating systems.
Additionally, radiant heaters also offer more
comfort than forced air heating by heating the
atmosphere from the ground up. Since heat rises, the
heat will be more evenly distributed, providing a much more
comfortable atmosphere.
Radiant Heaters Tip: Radiant energy is
totally pure radiation and is absorbed by an object
without physical contact with the heat source or by
heating the surrounding air, as is the case with
convective, forced air systems.

Winter weather is on the way. Start thinking
about heating
system solutions for the coming winter months or
spend the season shivering and wishing
you’d planned ahead. Leaving decisions like this
to the last moment (for example, when your furnace up
and dies in the middle of a brutal
Nor’easter) causes unnecessary stress, expense,
and, most obviously, a freezing cold house.
Whether you are building a new home from the
ground up, preparing to replace your heating
systems are using electricity instead of natural gas
or heating oil. Not only does this cut down on
heating costs, but it is also more efficient and
eco-friendly as well. Radiant heating
systems are quickly replacing traditional furnaces.
Heating Systems Tip: Choosing the best
heating
systems for a new home or to add supplemental heat
to a cold spot in your home now takes a little
homework. The radiant consultants and designers
at Warmzone have been trained in all of the latest
heating systems to properly assess your project
and prescribe a system that will add value to
your home within your budget.

With the current housing market being so
unpredictable, we’re seeing an increasing
number of homeowners are opting to stay put in their
homes, rather than buy a new home. They find
that one way to make their current home a better
fit for them is to remodel the kitchen or
bathroom, or upgrade the home’s heating systems.
While there isn’t a single heating
system out there that is an ideal fit for every
project, there is an ideal system for every
project. Warmzone.com can provide you with the
heating
systems you desire, as well as consult with you on
which systems would be the best fit for your
project.
Hydronic under floor heating
systems are some of the most popular forms of
radiant heat. In the most recent hydronic
heating systems, PEX radiant tubing has been
installed in a concrete mass called Gypsum Concrete or
“Gypcrete.” This method of heating
system installation works very well in most
applications, but there have been developments
in the installation process of hydronic under
floor heating that make it easier to install for certain
situations. This new development is known as a
low-mass or modular board underlayment system.
Rather than embedding the hot water tubing in
concrete, the PEX tubing is laid in the grooves of
pre-cut wood panels. This new method is ideal
for remodeling and most new construction
projects.
Heating System Tip: The hydronic
under-floor heating
system was first used by the Romans; there have
obviously been significant developments since
that time.

Automated Snow Sensors
High-Tech
Snow Switches for Heated Driveways and Roof Deicing
Systems
Are you
contemplating radiant heat for your next home
improvement project? Equipped with high-tech snow
switches, radiant heated
driveways and gutter systems are fully automated,
making them efficient and effortless when it comes
to snow removal.
The automated
snow switch detects temperature and moisture conditions
to initiate ice- and snow melting systems at the
first signs of inclement weather. Depending upon
what you’re heating, there are two general types
of sensors.
An
in-pavement (ground) sensor mounts in the concrete,
asphalt, or pavers of your driveway or walkways,
making it very indicative and accurate of the
driveway conditions and includes many programmable
features including:
- Electronic on/off control up to 11 KW
- 2 zone control with zones that can be
individually controlled
- Economical control
- Temperature and moisture detection
- Control of electrical or hydronic
(water-based) ice and snow melting systems
The aerial
mounted snow sensor activates your snow melting
system only when needed. These sensors are
typically mounted on the roof, and automatically
triggers your heated driveway or gutter snowmelt
system when it detects precipitation and
temperatures are below 39° F. Smart system
compatible, the sensor has several other notable
features, including adjustable temperature trigger
point, adjustable delay off cycle, and upgradeable
remote activation.
That’s
great, you say, but I have a snow removal service
already, so why pay for a fancy system? Snow fall
is unpredictable. Sometimes you wake up to the
stuff, and sometimes it accumulates throughout the day.
Snow removal services are certainly very handy,
but they can’t compete with the reliability
and efficiency of an automated radiant
heated driveway system. With an automated
radiant heated
driveway or gutter system, it’s like
having your very own snow melting service on call,
24/7. There’s no waiting involved, and no
slippery patches of ice that got overlooked. Automated
snowmelt systems only run when it’s
snowing, eliminating residual or standby operation
costs involved with snow removal services. And most
importantly, they offer the peace of mind that comes
with knowing your driveway and walkways are
completely clear of ice and snow.
If you’re not sure how an automated
snow melting switch fits into your radiant heat
snow melting project, take heart. Warmzone has the
experience and expertise you’ll need to meet your
project requirements, and can configure an
automated snow melting system with your needs and
budget in mind. To discover more about radiant heat snow
melting systems, contact 888.488.9276 today.

Roof Heating Solutions
Melt Snow
and Ice With a Radiant Roof Heating System
Radiant
heated roof and gutter heating
systems can dramatically enhance the life span
of your roof and protect it from damage caused by heavy
snow and ice accumulation. Older buildings are a visible
testament to the damaging effects of roof ice and
snow that can destroy fronts, roofs, drainpipes,
and gutters. Roofs that have substandard support
structures, and such shortcomings can enable water
to enter the building. As technology improves
insulation value, there is less heat gain from inside
of the building, causing an increased hazard of ice
damage and damming on the roof. Once winter frost
sets in, damage is often inevitable. Flat roofs on
industrial buildings often give in to excessive weight
loads generated by accumulations of ice and snow.
This can be prevented by installing a quality
heated roof and gutter deicing system, eliminating
potential damage from snow and ice buildup.
Working with
Warmzone on your roof
heating system installation allows you to
shop a number systems, and find the solution that is
right for your home and your budget.
Warmzone’s low-voltage RoofHeat
roof heating system is another excellent
solution for melting snow and ice from roof eaves,
valleys, and entire roofs. The RoofHeat deicing
system features an extremely thin,
self-regulating, semi-conductive polyethylene heating
element. Embedded between two layers of vinyl, the
panel is protected against UV rays, alkaline or
other potential physical damages for durability.
What’s
great about Roofheat is its versatility. It can be
installed under new or existing asphalt, shake, or
tile shingles, and is ideal for new construction
as well as remodeling projects.Available in rolls 9 or
12-inches wide, the lightweight heating panel can be cut
to size, and nailed or stapled through the
existing roof, making installation quicker and
easier than other traditional roof
heating systems.
You can never
predict the weather, but with a Warmzone roof heating
system, you can often predict the outcome. Prepare
now and say goodbye to pesky snow buildup and ice
damming for good. To find out more about the

Online Wall
Street Journal Interviews Warmzone Sales Manager, Bryan
Morris
The Wall Street
Journal recently cited Warmzone Sales Manager, Bryan
Morris, in an online article, “
The New Cold Warrior
,” published January 19, 2011. The piece
features an in-depth view of the various snow removal
tools and methods that are available to homeowners
nowadays; ranging from battery operated snow blowers and
ergonomic shovels to fully automated
radiant heat systems. The general emphasis of
the article is that high-tech snow removal solutions are on
the rise because they are not only easy on the driveway and
surrounding property, but also on the body.
Much of the
exposé was devoted to Warmzone, including a spotlight
on one of its recent snow
melting projects. Richard Silverstein of Chappaqua,
N.Y., purchased the snow
melting system from Warmzone for his home’s
steep 8,000-square-foot stone-paver driveway and walkways
around his outdoor hot tub. The 60-year-old
neuro-ophthalmologist works out of his house and was
concerned that patients and visitors might hurt themselves
because of icy conditions. The Journal was particularly
interested in the Silverstein job because of the size
and scope of the project.
Dr. Silverstein
emphasized that he didn’t want to be at the mercy of
numerous plows and snow blowers, but instead wanted to be
"stress free" during the winter months. That’s
when he decided to explore the options for radiant
heat. Bryan Morris was the Warmzone representative
who answered Dr. Silverstein’s call. Together with a
team of designers and electrical engineers, Morris
worked to develop the extensive snow
melting system.
“At
Warmzone,” Morris stated, “we deal with a
variety of affordable environmentally green products;
ranging from interior floor heating
solutions to heated
driveways and snow melting systems that melt snow
and ice from roofs, gutters, walkways, ramps, etc. Our
approach is to thoroughly understand our customer’s
needs, recommend services and solutions to meet those
needs, and to support them before, during and after
the sale.”
As a leader of
radiant heat solutions, Warmzone carries a host of industry-leading
snow melting and radiant floor heating products. The
company also provides professional radiant
heat design services along with detailed CAD
drawings of each radiant heat system.
The Wall Street
Journal article further elaborated on the components of
Warmzone’s automated snow melting
systems in addition to the cost and benefits of
electric radiant heating. For a FREE quote, or to

We’d risk
a guess that a majority of homeowners are probably most
familiar with forced air unit heaters and might not realize
that there are other options for heating a home
– other options that are more efficient and
even more comfortable. One such option is radiant
floor heating, which, as opposed to warm air
systems, delivers the source of heat upwards from the
floor level, not from the ceiling. Radiant
heaters or radiant energy is the oldest form of heating
used to provide comfort and is the basis for all
heating systems. Radiant energy is heat efficiently
radiating outwards, and is absorbed by an object
without physical contact with the heat source or by heating
the surrounding air, as is the case with convective,
forced air systems.
It might be hard to believe, but under floor
heat was first used by the Romans. While under floor
heating was initially reserved for the rich, it
eventually became increasingly commonplace in public
buildings and villas. This form of radiant heating was
used particularly in the colder regions of the Roman
Empire. The Roman system was based on hypocausts,
comprising ducts that underlay the floor (itself built on
raised brick piles) and flues that were built into
walls. Hot air or steam from fires circulated up
through this system, warming the floor and walls, with heat
passing into the rooms.
If you’re looking for efficient,
comfortable heat for your home, radiant floor
heating could the solution you’ve been looking
for.

With the high cost of heating fuels today, many
homeowners are wondering what other heating
options there are out there. Quite simply put,
radiant
heaters are the most efficient form of heat
available in today’s market.
Significantly less operating time is required to attain
and maintain the desired warmth compared to
furnaces and other, traditional methods of
heating, which keeps operational costs to a minimum.
High efficiency boilers or
electric radiant floor systems makes radiant
heat one of your most efficient ways to heat your
home. Combined with a well-insulated home these
systems can quickly warm your home and then shut
down or wait idle for long periods of time before being
called upon by the thermostat to operate.
More than ever before,
homebuilders, househunters, and home renovators
alike are looking for energy-efficient heating options
for houses. We say they need look no further
than radiant
heaters for their ideal home heating solution.
Radiant Heaters Tip: It might take a
little effort, but being more environmentally
friendly doesn’t have to involve major
renovations. Many people waste a lot of energy by not
sealing cracks, doors and windows. Checking to
make sure a home’s insulation is in good
shape and replacing it if it’s not is another
good surefire way to stop, prevent, and reverse
energy waste.
